THE MONSTER ENGINE

What would a child's drawing look like if it were painted realistically?

The Monster Engine, from Dave Devries's gives us a look.
Below are a few of my favorites. You can view more here.

Somehow the doodles have lost their own voice. Much like canoodling with with neo-classical copycats.

I dunno ED, It's very complex in execution but not in thought. Emotion or intention may be lacking but, I think these bring us a little closer to the simplicity with which a child sees the world. A nice reminder of how important ideas are and that initially, everything is an abstraction.

Some of the drawings were done by 7-8-9-year olds. There really isn't any life experience to communicate, let alone emotional value. There shouldn't be any predispositions here. They're to young.

I feel like they validate a child's skill in the eyes of an adult who knows no better.
